The dark knight Ideology Explained

The Dark Knight Ideology and why it has become a cult classic:-

"Why so serious" is the quote of Joker in The dark knight. Today the dark knight is regarded as a cult movie and one of the best superhero movie.

The Ideology and Message given in The Dark Knight:-

Personality Cult of Joker and Physcological Behaviour:-

The Joker is one of the most interesting characters in the world. Although he is dangerous and absolutely mental, the Joker’s mind is nothing short of extraordinary. While other villains rely on superpowers or advanced weapons, the Joker uses mind games, blackmail and fear as his methods of establishing his evil dominance. The Joker’s mind has never really been truly understood apart from the fact that he is homicidal, manipulative and extremely dangerous. The Joker had no interest in worldly pleasures like money, sex, and empire or anything else that may drive a typical villain. The Joker viewed the world as a game and hurting others was just fun for him. This is widely considered as the aftermath of childhood trauma, which eventually drove him crazy.

Although a sadist is one way to describe him, The Joker is much more large scale than that. His psyche was accurately described by Alfred J. Pennyworth in “The Dark Knight” when he said “Some men just wanna watch the world burn”. The Joker is definitely a sociopath since he is as indifferent to morality as can be. All in all, The Joker is a genius who is capable of bringing down even the best of the best. He is, in my opinion, one of the smartest minds in the world.

This quote from “The Dark Knight” is one of the most iconic Joker dialogues ever, which accurately describes his mindset.

Why Joker is so dangerous:-

Joker is not only a menacing villain or antagonist but also a very dangerous villain because of his physcology. One can not anticipate what he can do in next moment. He looks scary not only because of scars and makeup but also because he is manipulative and intimidating.
Joker also shows physcological behaviour

1 Joker shows antisocial personality behaviour hence he is a sociopath having no empathy for anyone.
2.Joker is nihilist i.e. he thinks that everything in the world is meaningless or nothing in the world has real existence.
3. Joker is a physcopath which makes him quite dangerous.
4.Joker is a narcissist also as he believes that like him no one believes in morality and morality is a sham but in the end he is proven wrong by Batman.
5.Joker creates moral dilemma as he does not believe in morality.
This is what makes Joker one of the cult characters and one of the most complex character .

Personality trait of Batman and why he is considered a legend:-

Batman is a shown as a capitalist Superhero .He is shown as an idealist who believes on his ideals and wows to protect it.Batman is the one who protects the system as he believes in the system of Gotham city.Bruce Wayne becomes Batman because of the murder of his parents in his Childhood. That's why Bruce wants to get crime out of Gotham City but because of moral beliefs of Batman makes it quite difficult.Joker tests Batman 's morality and manipulates him believing that there will be a moment in which Batman will leave his morality and beliefs which ultimately will be the victory for Joker as according to him morality is a sham.

"  A Character's flaws are more interesting than  a character's strengths".
This is where Batman comes into his own.Batman is shown as an underdog where all the odds are stacked against him.Joker challenges the Batman's most fundamental values of Justice and Order as he believes in Anarchy and Chaos and calls himself an agent of chaos.
Batman is considered as a legend and loved because he is the Ultimate Underdog which Audience wants to cheer for.

Other Characters Ideology:-
Harvey Dent is one of the main characters around which the film is centered. He is the District Attorney of Gotham City .He is upright ,abide by his rules and wants justice to prevail in Gotham City.Batman impressed by his ideals team along with Commissioner Gordon for finishing crime in Gotham city. But due to sudden  turn of events and Joker's plan to target him he becomes two-face and shows evil side of his character and due to Joker's instigation leads him to a deadly path of introducing anarchy in Gotham City as Joker manipulates him and utilises his weakness.

Commissioner Gordon and Alfred who is butler of Wayne Family and has taken care of Batman since his childhood have the same thinking .Both understands Batman and what Batman is up to.
As a police commissioner of Gotham City,Gordon shares Batman's deep commitment to ridding the city of crime. In this movie he is ignorant of Bruce Wayne's identity as Batman but he has a mutual
respect and tacit friendship with Bruce Wayne.
But Harvey dent because of the tragic incident he tries to kill Gordon and his family because he thinks that it is due to him that he lost his fiancee Rachel.

Alfred Pennyworth is Bruce Wayne's butler and is the one constant in Batman's life. He is not a yes-man to Bruce by any means, telling him when he feels that he is making the wrong decision. He is a father figure to Bruce and provides Bruce with wise advice when he needs it, often steering the young businessman towards the most heroic choice.
Alfred is shown as a good ,just and occasionally sarcastic man and he is contempt of his position. This is another example of good capitalist image of Batman.

Lucius Fox has recently been promoted to C.E.O. of Wayne Enterprises, and now that he has learned about his employer's double life, has also become personal assistant to Bruce's Batman alter ego. He is a steady and calm ally to Bruce, helping him devise the abduction of Lau and use special technology to locate the Joker at the end of the film.He offers his resignation as C.E.O when he learns that rights of residents of Gotham City are violated.

Rachel is Gotham's Assistant District Attorney. The former lover of Bruce Wayne, she is now romantically linked to Harvey Dent. She is killed early in the film as the result of havoc caused by the Joker. Before she dies, she pens a letter to Bruce telling him they can never be together and that she plans to marry Harvey, but the letter never gets to Bruce. She is the reason why Harvey dent becomes deranged and later dangerous for Gotham City.

All in all it is because of Joker that Batman becomes the dark knight.Joker is best antagonist for this movie because he truly understands the batman.Batman is forced to face his true self because of joker. Both Joker and Batman are competing for the same goal as both of them have same vision for Gotham city.Batman is fighting for hope for Gotham City without Crime
He is fighting for law and order whereas Joker as he states in one of his dialogues "Upset the established order and everything becomes chaos ".It's establishing law and order vs chaos and anrachy. They are both competing for soul of Gotham in which only one of them can win.Joker targets the team of Batman,Gordon and Dent who want to establish law and order in Gotham City.He targets Harvey Dent and kills his fiancee and manipulates his mind because he was the best out of all the three.Batman grows wiser because of Joker and his resolve also deepens because of him.

The Dark Knight is fixated on the opposition between right and wrong, order and chaos, and hope and despair, all to a degree no other superhero movie as come close to touching.Batman isn’t the star of The Dark Knight. That’s plain old conventional wisdom at this point. But Christian Bale’s foil, Heath Ledger’s iconic Joker, isn’t the star either. Not really. Nor is it Harvey Dent, Gotham’s white knight, or Jim Gordon, the archetypal honest cop, or Rachel Dawes, the doomed idealist, or Lucius Fox, the steady hand, or Alfred, the faithful servant.
